The Oceania Judo Union is proud to congratulate Nathan Katz of Australia on his election to the International Judo Federation (IJF) Athletes’ Commission, as announced by the IJF on 20 June 2025.

Nathan is one of just nine judoka elected globally to serve on the Commission, which represents the voice and interests of athletes within the IJF structure. His election is a significant recognition of both his leadership qualities and his long-standing contribution to international judo as a competitor and role model.

A Voice for Oceania Athletes

Nathan brings to the role a wealth of experience, having represented Australia at two Olympic Games, numerous World Championships, and Continental events. His appointment ensures that Oceania athletes will have a direct voice within the IJF’s key decision-making structures—an important step forward for athlete representation in the region.

The newly elected Athletes' Commission will serve from 2025 to 2028, with members participating in discussions on athlete welfare, competition planning, rules and regulations, and broader strategic direction.

The Oceania Judo Union congratulates Nathan on this achievement and thanks all athletes who participated in the election process. We look forward to supporting Nathan in his new role and seeing Oceania’s voice contribute meaningfully to the global judo movement.
